In May 2007, Terry Whitesell (the principal of China Grove Elementary) came up with the idea to make a playground in memory of Patty. The student body raised money to buy and construct part of the playground, which consists of a park bench, 2 sets of swings, a ride on truck that looks like a Hummer, and a concrete pad that the students can play on when the other areas are too wet . Many people and businesses donated time, materials, and labor to make this project a success. Before school dismissed that year, the playground was dedicated in the honor and memory of Patty.
Special thanks to Thomas Concrete

, Goodman Farm Supply, Blayne and Jerry Morgan, and Terry Whitesell for making this project a sucess.
