Pennies for Change
Last week, Justen, along with representatives from the North Carolina MADD chapter presented a program to his entire school (Fred L. Wilson) about underage drinking and it's effects.  During the program, Justen got up on stage and read a letter that he wrote about drinking and driving to his entire school.  MADD officials asked each student to try and raise $4.67.  That is 1 penny for each person that was killed in North Carolina last year by a drunk driver. After the assembly, they passed out containers to the entire student body and even gave them their first penny to start them off.  MADD officials challenged each classroom to see who could raise the most money, and promised the winner to a pizza party.    The goal is to raise enough money to cover the entire gym floor at Fred L Wilson School with pennies.  If they can, they will set a new world record.  If you would like to donate in person, you can stop by during normal school hours and make a donation at the office.  If you would like to make an online donation, click here.
